55年前，中华人民共和国宣告成立，开创了中国历史新纪元。55年来特别是改革开放二十多年来，中国人民在中国共产党领导下，团结奋斗，艰苦创业，把一穷二白的中国建设成繁荣富强的中国。社会生产力快速发展，综合国力显著增强，人民生活不断改善，国际地位日益提高。中华民族从未像今天这样以站立起来、富强起来的英姿，赢得国际社会的尊敬；中国人民从未像今天这样意气风发，精神振奋，对前途充满信心。面对欣欣向荣的祖国，面对幸福美好的未来，中华儿女无不从内心发出深情的欢呼：祝福你，伟大的祖国！
沧海桑田，天翻地覆。新中国成立55年来，我们的国家走过了光辉的道路。人们深切地体会到，没有中国共产党就没有新中国，没有中国共产党的领导，就没有中国的现代化。深切地体会到，社会主义制度实现了中国历史上亘古未有的大变革，社会主义制度在自我完善中愈益显示出巨大的活力和优越性。深切地体会到，改革开放是强国之路，坚持改革开放，我们国家就一定能够实现社会主义现代化。55年的辉煌业绩昭示着这样一个真理：中国共产党好，社会主义制度好，改革开放政策好。55年的探索和实践得出了这样一个结论：把马克思主义基本原理与中国的具体实际相结合，坚定不移地走自己的路，建设中国特色社会主义，我们就一定能够从胜利走向新的胜利。
我们正处在改革发展的关键时期，全国各族人民团结奋斗，阔步前进。面对改革发展稳定的繁重任务，我们党总揽全局，高瞻远瞩，树立和落实科学发展观，及时加强和改善宏观调控，成功应对了中国经济社会发展面临的一场新考验，各项工作取得显著成就：国民经济继续保持良好的发展势头，教育、科技、文化、卫生、体育等社会事业不断向前推进，社会主义民主法制建设、精神文明建设和党的建设迈出新的步伐。我国体育健儿在雅典奥运会上取得优异成绩。这一切都极大地鼓舞了全国人民的士气，为我国经济社会进一步发展创造了有利的条件。
